I and many others suffer from varying degrees of sexual dysfunction which either started or persisted following discontinuation of SSRI antidepressants. In my case the symptoms include absence of morning erections, loss of sensitivity, absence of erections following visual stimuli (to get an erection I usually need manual stimulation), no libido and delayed ejaculation. Also my refractory period is as long as four or five hours when before the medications it was half an hour or less.
I've had the usual tests done and I cannot really find anything to go by. My prolactin levels were elevated while I was on the SSRIs but have returned to normal shortly after discontinuing. I have been off SSRIs for five years now and still no improvements. For a 26 year old male this is most worrying. I've also tried all the well known aphrodisiacs.
What would you suggest in this case?
