Chemotherapy is usually given at the clinic or hospital on an outpatient basis. Many patients have lab work done the day before or day of treatment and then proceed with treatment if their lab work is satisfactory. Occasionally patients might be admitted to the hospital for chemotherapy if the treatment will last for several days. Also, patients may be on a continuous pump at home that can be monitored by a home health nurse.
