Q: Hello All --

If anyone has knowledge of the below, would they please respond?

Husband, age 50, dx of early onset heart disease (HTN) recently had cellulitis in right foot/ankle. No cuts, insect bites, etc. to be found by magnified assessment of foot/ankle -- both MD and myself. Cipro 10D. He has "restless feet." It took 3 days for ABX to respond. Foot cleared up, but slowly. About 3 wks later, foot/ankle is again swollen, but this time no redness -- just lots of non-pittable edema. LE pulses are bounding.
Elevated foot, applied hot towels, and over 2H swelling was down about 30%, but I don't think the game is over. There is no discoloration in his legs.

Noticed loss of hair on legs which put my radar up. My guess is a valve problem in one of the veins. Being that this is "mechanical," I'm thinking that perhaps he has to investigate traditional tx -- or am I wrong?

Does anyone have a recommendation? I am very frightened.

Thanks so much,

MDG

A1: The swelling causes the leg skin problem and will go away without treatment
IF YOU GET TO THE CAUSE OBEHIND THE SWELLING. Do chelation therapy since it adresses many causes and HYPERTENSION, AND is likely to work. DO 30
TREATMENTS OF THREE HOUR TYPE.

A2: Unilateral is strange....bilateral I would check peritibial myxedema and hyperthyroidism.

Hair loss - is this unilateral as well? Can be from wearing boots, even long trousers from mechanical friction. Can regrow in summer with shorts, sandals etc.

Unilateral - have you checked regional lymph nodes in the groin? Could try manual lymphatic drainage but if regional lymph nodes are blocked this would reduce efficacy.

A3: Could be a DVT: get and ultrasound and figure out how you want to address it. While nattokinase and endokinase are touted for dissolving clots, realize that there isn't much evidence behind them and they aren't the standard of care, so be sure to fully inform the patient about all the options (including the risks of coumadin causing atherosclerosis). I've got a guy with one right now and I'm keeping his INR at the low end of the range and using fish oil/nattokinase. I don't have the experience (or faith?) with the natural tx to put my patient's health and my license on the line.

A5: so he has metabolic vascular disease(heart, ?HTN whatever that means). You dont mention BMI, alcohol, smoking, erectile, blood glucose problems, so these are presumably OK?
But what is his ankle-brachial gradient ie his BP at both ankles compared to his arm when supine? and his fasting CRP/ ESR/ Hb/ glucose/insulin?
Unless he was bitten, or has still silent cancer/immunopathy or poisoning of some sort, the likelihood is common metabolic micro-vasculloneuropathy, needing - apart from the usual advice- the usual gamut of supplements including highdose bioflavinoids and BCo, lipoic acid etc.

A6: Standard Process Cataplex-B & cardio-+ for the heart 3-tid of the b & 2-tid of the cardio plus recheck in 3 months for progress, another test would be a bio-meridian.

A7: There is certainly some research that suggests lipostabile (injectible quality -dr. Kane protocols) may improve arterial. Elasticity and diameter size. - recent study in china referenced 3g daily of salmon oil improved arterial elasticity over 8 weeks. (I'm sure not as well as lipostabile). Perna caniculus (omega 3 from green lipped mussels) could be far more effective then salmon.

A8: Hello ! maybe I try to give you some recommendations. Have you ever checked for laboratory test like albumin, creatinin, proteiuria ?. If you do and the result is in normal limit, you can try some supplement like Goji juice (himalayan goji). It is only a fruit juice but it work so good in many people. You can see more the information about Goji juice via my webside http://www.indrapolitan.freelife.com I hope it can help you.

A9: http://testimonials.silvermedicine.org/content/cellulitis.html
I have chronic lymph edema in both legs. I am therefore highly susceptible to infections, particularly cellulitis. On 4 separate occasions I have cured cellulitis using only colloidal silver. This can be a life threatening infection in my case so I waste no time in treating it. I take a 12oz cup every hour and a half to two hours until the infection is gone. Anything less does not seem to be effective. It usually takes about 3 days to cure, which is a vast improvement over a 10 day hospital stay on IV antibiotics followed followed by 12 weeks of oral antibiotics. That was the treatment I underwent the first time I was hospitalized for this disease.
All my best
Garry Hobart
