Q: Hi
Got a friend that just finished up with chemo/radiation for hypopharyngeal cancer stage 3 weeks ago thru VA in Fort Worth, Tx. Lost 35 lbs (on a small frame) since finishing. Feeding tube placed but unable to keep foods down. Cachectic but not anorexic. Continued nausea, vomiting after ingesting very small amounts of food. Any help would be great, including a doc in Fort Worth area with expertise in this area Thanks Craig Jace

A1: Craig,

Every patient I have ever treated who was suffering from chemo induced nausea and vomiting has experienced immediate relief either from homeopathic "Nux vomica 200C," or homeopathic "Ipecac 200C." The dose is: 2 pellets orally every 15 minutes until relief sets in, then stop. Start with the Nux vomica. If 6 doses are given, and there is NO change in the N+V, then switch to Ipecac. If, a few days after stopping the effective treatment, the symptoms return, just re-dose at 2 pellets every 30 minutes until relief sets in, then stop.
Additionally, the extreme fatigue engendered by chemotherapy can be eliminated almost always with homeopathic Carbo vegetabilis 200C - 2 pellets every hour until relief sets in, then stop. Treat the N+V first, then wait 6 hours before administering the Carbo-veg. for fatigue.
These simple treatments should be SOP for all cancer hospitals, and if you are not a believer in homeopathy, you will be after watching what these 3 remedies can do for chemo-induced pathology.

Good luck.

A2: I recommend Nux Vomica and Carbo Veg at the higher potencies; Consider Ginger Tea with aloe vera juice. Rx IV Immune Drips (dailywith extra Mag and Potasium) along with lymphomyosot and compositum.

Use the classic acupuncture points MH-6, ST-41, ST-36. And, Chiropractic Manipulation (A-P) Thoracic---works like a charm. Also very effective (1-2x) for infant colic.

A3: Suggest 50,000mg Ascorbic acid dripped IV per day until symptom free, which could even happen after a single IV.

A4: I'm sure others with more direct experience here will chime in, but glutamine is even used by the mainstream doc some times and has some studies behind it. I'd also consider DGL. I've also seen a nice improvement in all my cancer pts one standard therapies by giving them IV vitamin C, so this may help your friend.

A6: Dear Doctor,

UV Therapy (photolumenesence therapy) does a great deal to alleviate these symptoms. I have seen patients with radiation burns recover from them quickly and have seen the N&V alleviated as well. It may take a few treatments to totally resolve the N&V. This can also relieve hyperemesis in pregnancy.

My best. Patti Wooldridge RN, BSN

A7: Dear Craig,

I missed your email several days ago and am sorry for this. These symptoms are compatible with the cachexia syndrome seen in terminal cancer patients. What is the current weight? This often responds in a week to Haelan 951 from Woodinville, Wash.

A8: These are the very conditions that medical marijuana is reported to significantly help with--specifically, an increase in appetite and a decrease in the nausea that is due to chemotherapy.

Best Wishes,
