Q: I have been obtaining VAP testing for lipid analysis which includes TC, HDL breakdown-HDL2, HDL3, LDL including Apo-A, Apo-B, TG, etc. I have been utilizing Proline, Lysine and Vitamin C therapy for the apo-A. Any thoughts on Apo-B therapy? Since this is an LDL molecule, my assumption is that the same therapy can be utilized in Apo-A elevations. Thanks Steve Meress MD FACP ABHM

A: We've had good results with Niacin (not "no flush" type but sustained release works well). Niacin will increase HDL, decrease LDL (and favor the larger "fluffy" particles), and improves the Apo A/ Apo B ratio. Bonus is further lowering of Lp(a).
