Dr. Isaac Eliaz, a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine since the early 1980's, is a respected author, lecturer, researcher, product formulator and clinical practitioner.
Today he shares why practicing integrative medicine is so fulfilling.

In this segment, Dr. Eliaz describes the fulfilling and unique values that drive integrative doctors—including a mind-body approach that addresses physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects of health with equal importance. In this practice, the boundaries of detachment are removed in an effort to engage the patient on a deeply personal level, creating a comfortable environment to speak and think freely—a driving principle of integrative medicine that is particularly vital to the treatment of cancer. I think the growing number of integrative practices is a response to the public becoming educated and demanding a place at the table. Once physicians realize that they have to answer patients questions on an every increasingly array of interwoven related medical, psychological, and spiritual topics, it only makes sense for them to share the opportunity to help a patient with others that hopefully know more than you do in these additional areas. I feel that we serve patients better when we practice from a more humble perspective and look at all practicioners (allopathic and alternative) as potential assets for an individuals health journey. Let's keep in mind that in reality, the patient is the one who does the healing.
