I have suffered with Levator Ani Syndrome(aka Rectal Spasms) for 19 years. I have tried Electrogalvanic Stimulation(EGS),Physical Therapy, Biofeedback, and a lot of different medication, but so far no relief. I found a forum on the internet(TIPNA)that claims that Levator Spasms are caused by the Pudendal nerve being entrapped or inflamed.Accordinng to the information on the site, the Pudendal Nerve runs vertically down each side of the buttocks close to the butt crack, and branches off to the Levator Muscle,Penis,Scrotum, and Testicles. When the Pundendal Nerve is entraped or inflamed,it can cause problems in the Levator Muscle,Penis,Scrotum,Testicles, and bladder.Since nothing has worked so far, this made a lot of sense.Several people on this forum have had surgery done on the Pudendal Nerve and they claim that they are 50 to 75 % better. There are only two teams of doctors who do this kind of surgery in the U.S., Dr Lee Ansell in Houston and Dr Michael Hibner In Phoenix Arizona.I want to try other forms of therapy before surgery.I don't like the idea of having surgery, but I like the idea of having to live with this chronic problem for the rest of my life.

Sincerely,
Jody
