Has anyone tried this supplement? I don't know if it's coincidental or not, but I got really bad stomach cramps when I took it. I've stopped for the time being, but I would sure like to know if anyone else has any experience here.

Haven't tried ALC with arginate but I do take flaxseed oil with ALC hydrochloride with added alpha-lipoic acid. This has been wonderful. No more heart arrhythmias and no side effects!

If you're talking about the mitochondrial energy optimizer I would suggest that you separate the ingredients to find out which one it is that you are having the reaction to.

I can tell you from personal experience that if you are deficient in R ALA, or I should say when I first took it, I got some pretty fierce reactions after the fourth time.

Is your stomache used to taking enzymes? Have you ever taken enzymes with molecules in it that has a hydrochloride on the tail end of the molecule, like the way that the mitochondrial energy optimizer has the hydrochloride on the tail end of it's acetyl carnitine arginate and acetyl carnintine.

I'm just saying that before I started buying LEF's various combined supplements I had already had experience with a lot of the various individual items in the formulas. That gives me the subjective experience to know what symptom to associate with too much or not enough of any particular thing.

For example, I know that if I take too much creatine and I am lacking R-alpha lipoic acid, it will just gather up on the outside of my muscles everywhere instead of actually being incorporated into the muscle and I start becoming super-sensitive to any pressures as though I'm easily bruising (feels painful like a charlie horse).

Then I found out when I started taking R-ALA that apparently I had been heading down the road of the typical American "insulin resistance" for some years now, because the blood sugar reactions that I would get from just taking 1 R-ALA after the fourth time was dramatic. I had to cut back to just taking a little bit out of the capsule and mixing it with water and rubbing it into my palms (remember it is both fat and water soluble). I had to take it very slowly with the R-ALA. Very slowly. I still haven't figured out for sure what other things that I was defecient in that was causing such a reaction. My best guess was that I was lacking in sulfur based amino acids as that is the only thing that I can think of that I supplemented with between then and now. Now I get no symptomatic reactions at all to R-ALA.
It may have just been a necessary adjustment period that the majority of my cells had to go through adjusting to a new metabolism.
I think people can under estimate the impact that some of these basic supplements can have on you.
