Cervicitis is an inflammation of the cervix (the opening into the uterus) usually caused by infection. However, in some cases, cervicitis can be caused by infection, including sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Successful treatment of cervicitis involves addressing the cause of the inflammation. You can take steps to reduce your risk of cervicitis from STDs.
